Cambridge Sinfonietta Logo CAMBRIDGE SINFONIETTA Violin and Rose

The Cambridge Sinfonietta is a friendly amateur orchestra based in Cambridge, England. We play mainly symphonic and concerto works drawn from the classical repertoire and give a concert in aid of a local charity at the end of each school term, usually on a Thursday or Saturday.

Keen amateur players of any age are welcomed as new members without audition, subject to a reasonable balance between sections. We are currently particularly looking for violins, violas and percussion as well as a bassoon. The standard is roughly grade four to soloist; our past concertos have been performed by both professional and member players.

Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:30pm during school terms at Milton Road Primary School, Ascham Road, Cambridge (map). Members help to set up and clear away stands and chairs before and after rehearsals beginning from around 7:10, and should aim to be tuned and ready to play by 7:30pm. Music is available to members for practice.

Membership currently costs £35 per term for adults, £5 for children and concessions privately discussed.
